    T-bills receive cold response

KATHMANDU, March 15 - Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) received cold response for the treasury bills (T-bills) to be issued on Thursday, as bids value fell short of its floated amount.
“While the government floated T-bills worth of one billion rupees today, it received bids valued at Rs 930 million,” said an official at the NRB. He said the discount rate of T-bills which carry maturity of 194 days were fixed at 4.006 percent at today's auction. “The central bank got a total of 18 bids from four commercial banks,” he said. The NRB is going to issue these t-bills as part of its plan to curb inflation by increasing interest rate by mopping up liquidity.

Officials at the NRB said the central bank could not receive bids to purchase the whole amount of floated T-bills, as liquidity was tight in the financial market.
