Meet on quake held

KATHMANDU: Speakers at a programme organised here on Saturday stressed on the need to strengthen the communities to minimise earthquake risks. Speaking at a training organised by the Kathmandu Metropolis-17 to mark the Earthquake Safety Day-2006, the speakers pointed out the need for the government, organisations concerned and the civil society to run public awareness programmes. Secretary at the Home Ministry Bal Krishna Prasain said the government is preparing a strategy on natural calamity and the Ministry is working out ways to minimise the risk and impact of calamities.
