16 Nepalis stranded in Iraq

KATHMANDU, Jan 11 - As many as 16 Nepali job seekers are stranded in Iraq since two weeks after their employer did not turn up to receive them in Bagdad, the capital city of Iraq.

The Nepalis who had reached Bagdad town via Bombay and Jordan lured by some manpower agents of Nepal and India are being held in police custody at the airport, reported Kantipur daily Wednesday.

According to Iraqi law, the visa is granted at the airport on arrival for which the employer of the workers must come to receive them.

But the Nepali workers on reaching the airport found that their employer?s address was wrong, said Subhat Aryal, who works for a Dubai based American army camp. (hb)
