MMC claims pole position

KATHMANDU, Feb 17 - Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) claimed the top position in the Martyr's Memorial ANFA-SanMiguel National League Football avenging Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) for the first-round defeat on Friday at the Dashrath Stadium.
MMC defeated TAC 2-0 to go top of the table with 62 points from 27 matches. MMC is a point ahead of Nabil Three Star Club, which has a game in hand, while TAC is third with 60 points. Mahendra Police Club (MPC) is fourth with 59 points.

With the loss, TAC's chances of winning the title became nearly impossible and only a series of results in its favour can give it the title. MMC's Nigerian recruit Felix scored one each in either half of the break.

Both the goals were made possible by the blunders from the armymen. Felix scored the first in the fifth minute on Raju Tamang's missed back pass and scored the second six minutes after the break on Ram Kumar Biswash's miss pass.

Earlier, Brigade Boys Club (BBC) defeated neighbor Friends' Club 4-1 to complete its league campaign on a higher note. It finished with 29 points from 28 matches while Friends' was restricted to 26 points.

Friends' took the lead with Chandra Tamang's goal in the seventh minute but that was cancelled by Akash Chhantyal a minute later. Obagbemiro Junior scored twice for BBC - one in the 66th and the other in injury time - while Raju Rai scored one in-between.
