The International Music Week organised by the Alliance Francaise in Kathmandu (AFK) ended on June 26 with a free concert by French band Betty Argo. The concert held at Nepal Academy was a unique treat for all music lovers who attended it.

The Indie pop band amazed the audience with their music of reggae, rock and electronic influences. Neither too loud nor too soft, their tunes grabbed audiences’ attention throughout.

Lena Roucaute with her husky voice gave a good performance along with her few dance moves. Arnaud Cabibel supported her on backing vocal. He and Samuel Strouk took turns to play the bass and rhythm guitar and both were equally good. And added to all these was the powerful drumming by Jeremie Pontier.

Most of the songs were their original scores like In My Mind, 70 Blocks, My Playground and Dex that kept the crowd going. They fed some French flavour of music through J’Veux Du Soleil and Bye Bye.

“We are very happy to be here in Kathmandu,” said Roucaute. And the feeling was equally reciprocated by their listeners. Jyotshna Malla from Thaiba shared, “I liked the beats of their music. It was interesting. And the vocal was clear too though they are French.”

The celebration of music ended on a happy note.
