CA polls to eliminate autocratic rule: Prachanda

 -  Kantipur

Kathmandu, March 3 2008 - Maoist Chairman Prachanda Monday said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) poll was the final hurdle and it would eliminate all the remaining emblems of a totalitarian regime.

Terming the CA polls as a “gigantic–battle”, Prachanda claimed that the key elections will lay the foundation stone for a new Nepal.

Addressing his first electoral assembly at constituency number 10 of Katmandu in Kirtipur, from where Prachanda is contesting the April 10 polls, today, the Maoist Chairman opined that “the CA polls will begin a new era.”

“We are going to lay the ten-year long people’s war, the sacrifices of tens of thousand of Nepalis and the sacrifices made by various movements as the foundation stone through the CA polls to eliminate the autocratic regime,” said the Maoist chairman during the assembly.

Underlying the need to maintain unity and coordination for the CA polls between the nationalists and republicans, Prachanda said that talks are being held with other parties.

The Maoist Chairman also claimed that he would transform the face of the country if he got the opportunity to lead the country.

He also called on everyone to make the CA polls a success as the economic revolution will begin after the political revolution.

Likewise, the Maoists also organised an electoral assembly at Sorahakhutte in the capital.
