YCL to despatch 200 volunteers to each polling booth

Kathmandu, Jan. 27 2008 -  Central committee meeting of Young Communist League (YCL) has decided to deploy 200 volunteers at each polling booth across the country to help people exercise their voting rights freely and to prevent untoward activities during the Constituent Assembly elections slated for April 10.

The Election Commission has fixed the number of polling booths at 20,883 for the CA elections.

The more than a week-long meeting of the YCL concluded Friday also decided to support campaigns to stop encroachment of Nepali territory along the Nepal-India border, including the Susta Protection Campaign launched by the local people of Susta area in Nawalparasi district.

The meeting decided to orient all our efforts to the CA election and from now onwards our activists and activities will be focused to make the election free and fair,  YCL chairman Ganesh Man Pun said at a press meet organised Saturday to disclose the decision of the meeting.

Evaluating the YCL nearly two-month-long Mechi-Mahakali Republic Youth March that began in the last week of November, the meeting concluded that the march played a vital role in creating congenial environment for the CA poll by raising public awareness for republic and nationalism.
