Nepal-India disputed area to be discussed at PM level

Jan 08 2008, Kathmandu - The Nepal-India disputed Susta area is to be discussed at prime minister's level, local media reported Tuesday.

Susta, some 110 km southwest of Kathmandu, claimed by Nepal, has been reported to be encroached by India in years.

Amid growing controversy on the issue, the Nepali Foreign Ministry has said the issue will be discussed at Prime Minister's level, the newspaper Nepal Samacharpatra reported on Tuesday.

The Ministry said in a statement that since the issue is complicated, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will discuss it with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.

The ministry added the Nepali government will continue efforts through diplomatic channel to resolve the matter.

The Nepali cabinet held a meeting on Sunday and decided to pursue the issue through diplomatic channels after lawmakers raised the issue in the parliament.
