Alliance with nationalists to defeat conspiracy: Mahara

 -  The Rising Nepal

Dec 17 2007 - CPN-Maoist spokesman Krishna Bahadur Mahara said Sunday that it was necessary to forge alliance with the nationalist forces to defeat the conspiratorial design of the national and international powers and move ahead towards building Nepal anew.

Mahara was speaking at a condolence programme organised to pay tributes to the family of the martyrs upon the completion of a year since the carnage at Gaur took place.

The members of the Young Communist League (YCL) who are holding the Mechi-Mahakali march past were also present at the programme organised in the memory of the Maoist workers who were slain mercilessly a year ago.

Mahara said that foreign powers had been hatching conspiracies to stop Nepal from coming out from the present state of transition adding he said they were against the idea of allowing peace to be restored in Nepal.

He said that the Gaur incident had taken place at the behest of Madheshi Janaadhikar Forum (MFJ) with the backing of Indian expansionists to force the Maoists back into war. Even if the government does not initiate actions against them, the CPN-Maoist will not stay behind from bringing to the fore the reality behind the incident and at the same time take action against those who were involved in it, he added.

Mahara said although all political parties were prepared to adopt the proportional electoral system, things had still been in a state of limbo as the Nepali Congress was not willing to accept the proposal.

He said that the only way out of the present political deadlock would be to hold a round table conference.

Mahara rejected the claims of other parties that the CPN-Maoist was trying to stave off the elections and said the party instead has been working ahead to hold the elections within this Nepali year.

He accused the Nepali Congress of trying to disintegrate the country by falling under the ploy of Indian expansionism and American imperialism.

The CPN-Maoist party today paid tributes to the families of Maoist workers who were killed in last year's carnage in Gaur. It also made public the names of 46 individuals alleging them of being involved in the carnage.

Among the names made public were that of MJF central member Amar Yadav and chairman of the civil society Jagarnath Keshari.

Others addressing the programme were Prateek" in-charge of Maoist Bhojpur provincial state, secretary Prabhu Sha and central member of the Madheshi Rastriya Mukti Morcha Krishna Deb Singh among others.
