Sanitation campaign in Udaypur schools

GAIGHAT: A sanitation campaign has been launched in 35 schools of Triyuga Municipality of Udayapur district.

Some 140 participants including students, teachers, members of school management committees have been given sanitation training which was organized by Triyuga municipality with the assistance of the UNICEF.

According to the programme coordinator of the Triyuga Municipality Guru Dhakal, the programme was organized with an objective to creating awareness about sanitation programme at the schools and the role of principals, teachers and parents in the programme.

Children?s fund and teachers? fund have been set up in the various schools after the programme was launched and the fund is being used to buy necessary materials related to sanitation.

The campaign with a slogan ?Give us Rs. 1, we give you cleanness? is getting underway in the community.

Similarly, Child Clubs have constructed 295 toilets in the schools whereas the Triyuga Municipality has constructed 27 toilets in schools and going to make few more. Recently the students have been running various programmes such as keeping donation box in school, declaring many areas as non-smoking zones and mobilising people in sanitation programme.

Four schools have been declared as model schools so far and the sanitation programme is going on in ten schools, Dhakal said.
