    No unity with Maoists: Nepal

     -  Kantipur

Aug 25 2007 - CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has ruled out any chance of unification with the CPN-Maoist under the prevailing circumstances.
Reacting to Maoist leader Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai's statement in a launching programme of a book "Ajako Marxbad Ra Nepali Kranti" (Today's Marxist and Nepali Revolution) penned by UML leader Ghanshyam Bhusal in Kathmandu on Friday, Nepal underscored the need of uniformity in ideas and behavior prior to the parties' unification.

Addressing the same program, Dr Bhattarai had said that that unity between communist parties was the need of the hour as the two communist parties like UML and Maoists couldn't move ahead in parallel ways for long.

Nepal, however, emphasized on the need to form a broader republican front in the run up to the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections scheduled for November 22.

Likewise, Nepali Congress (Democratic) leader Pradeep Giri expressed the view that there was need for unity not only among communists but also among all progressive parties in the country so as to be able to tackle global challenges.

Commenting on the book, Dr Bhattarai praised the writer for bringing out such a work at a time when the culture of philosophical and ideological study among politicians is declining.

UML leaders Ishwor Pokharel, Tanka Karki and Hikmat Karki lauded Bhusal's two-year-long studious and laborious effort to bring out the book.
