    BUC pulls away from Bouddha

KATHMANDU, Jan 24 - Bouddha Football Club (BFC) slowly nears relegation as it suffered a 3-0 loss to Armed Police Force (APF) today in the Martyrs' Memorial SanMiguel 'A' Division League Football while another relegation candidate Boys' Union Club (BUC) registered a crucial 4-3 win over Sankata Club.
Today's win puts BUC at the 11th position with 16 points, ahead of Bouddha, Friends', Mahabir and Machhindra. Bouddha that sent six of its Sahara Club recruits back to Pokhara recently seems resigned to relegation. It has seven matches left and so far managed seven points with one win, four draws and 16 loses. APF seems tightening its grip in the fifth spot behind the top four- Manang Marsyangdi Club, Mahendra Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club and Nabil Three Star Club respectively.

Skipper Ganesh Lawati, with a goal and an assist to his name, was inspirational in the first half for APF. Mani Pandit's 16th minute strike off a Ganesh Lawati pass from inside Bouddha penalty area gave APF lead. Bouddha goalie Dashrath Adhikari denied both Pandit and Lawati on two clear occasions. Ajay Silwal KC found the second APF goal in the 35th minute. He penetrated the fragile Bouddha defense  from the left flank and finished the ball on the second bar. Skipper Lawati was unlucky and found the bar twice in the match.

Before Ganesh finally headed one past the diving Bouddha goalie in the 83rd minute off a Ajay Silwal cross, team mate Raghu Prajapati also struck the woodwork. APF should have ended with few more goals but was unlucky to have found the bar thrice. Bouddha goalie also made a couple of excellent saves.

Unsatisfied APF coach Nawal Rana said his boys' performed below par and some element of complacency made the boys reluctant against relatively weaker opponent. Conceding his team is certainly heading towards relegation unless a miracle now, Bouddha's assistant coach Buddhi Gurung said, "As we have nothing to gain now we sent back the Sahara players. If we had tried our local boys like today from the beginning, they might have set into a cohesive unit."

Ealier, BUC continued its surprising recovery beating mid-table Sankata 4-3 in a highscoring but friendly-looking match.

Utsav KC scored a brace for the Tripureshwor-based club while Abiodun G Lawal and Mark D Afam scored a goal each for the winning side. Nilendra Dewan, Rajkumar Ghishing and Rojit KC were on target for Sankata.

BUC dominated from the outset and was rewarded with a goal in the 22nd minute when African Lawal supplied it to his countryman Afam who belted it past Sankata's second-choice goalie Deepak Dangol for a 1-0 lead. "We missed our regular goalie Sangeet Razak and captain Kailash Dangol today," stand-in captain Rajkumar KC said. Razak had torn his ligament in Sankata's previous match and is likely to miss the rest of the league.

In the 30th minute, Nilendra Dewan brought Sankata back on track with a superb finish off captain Rajkumar KC's supply but Lawal made it 2-1 for BUC in the 38th minute. A defensive blunder by a Sankata defender saw Utsav making it 3-1 in the 51st minute but Sankata did not give up. Unselfish Nilendra supplied a ball to unmarked Rajkumar KC inside the six-yard box and the latter rounded it past goalie Dangol to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

But BUC made sure that it got three points with another brilliant shot in the 77th minute when Hari Thakuri released him a perfect ball just at the line of the 18-yard box. With one minute remaining, BUC's Eke Albert handled the ball forcing referee Lawa Khatri to point at the spot. Rojit KC took charge and scored a late goal but it was too late for Sankata.
